Admission Requirements For International Students
- As an international student, you will typically need a qualification equivalent to the Australian Year 12. UQ recognizes many international high school qualifications, such as A-levels, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the US Advanced Placement tests. Each program sets a minimum score or rank for entry.
- If English is not your first language, you must show your English proficiency through a test such as IELTS, TOEFL or PTE. Minimum scores vary by program. For most undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs, the requirement is generally 6.5 overall on IELTS, with a minimum of 6 in each band. Equivalent scores in TOEFL or PTE are also accepted.
- You must satisfy the Genuine Temporary Entrant requirement. This means showing that you genuinely intend to stay in Australia temporarily, for the purpose of studying.
- Some programs may have additional entry requirements, such as interviews, portfolios or auditions.
- If you do not meet the direct entry requirements, UQ offers pathway programs that can help you gain admission. These programs give you extra academic and English language support, so that you can meet the university's standards.

The University of Queensland (UQ) sits in the St Lucia suburb of Brisbane, in an attractive setting for an Australian university.
