IELTS

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is one of the world's most widely accepted English proficiency tests. Co-owned by the British Council, IDP and Cambridge Assessment English, it is accepted by over 11,000 institutions in 140+ countries.

The test is scored on a 0–9 band scale and offered in two main formats: Academic (for university admissions) and General Training (for migration, work, language schools). Typical targets for Turkish students: 6.5–7.0 for US universities, 6.5–7.5 for the UK, 6.0–7.0 for Australia/Canada visas.

The exam takes 2 hours 45 minutes and consists of four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Computer-delivered IELTS has become widespread since 2023, with results in 3–5 business days (paper-based: 13 days).
