Founded in 1966 as the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT), Curtin University operated under the name Curtin University of Technology from 1987 to 2010 before adopting its current name, Curtin University, in 2010. 

Named after John Curtin, Australia's 14th Prime Minister, renowned for his leadership during World War II, the university has grown to become one of the largest universities in Western Australia.
