Admission Requirements for International Students

Undergraduate

  • A-Levels
    • BBC - A*AA
  • International Baccalaureate
    • Overall scores of 30-39, with scores of 6-7 in relevant subjects at higher level. Please note that Mathematical Studies cannot take the place of Mathematics where Mathematics is specified as a required subject. 
  • European Baccalaureate
    • Scores of 85%-90% overall, with scores of 8.5-9 in relevant subjects
  • French Baccalaureate
    • Overall score of 16 to 20, with 15-17 required in relevant subjects
  • Abitur
    • Overall score of 1.1 or better, with 13 to 14 in individual subjects taken as abiturprufung examinations
  • Advanced Placement
    • A minimum of 3-4 AP tests with grades of 5, expected to be taken alongside a relevant high school diploma.

Certificate in English Proficiency (for students from countries whose first language is not English)

  • A certificate in English proficiency from an internationally recognized test such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, CAE or CPE.

If you are an international student applying to a graduate program at the University of Manchester, you must meet the requirements set out below.

  • A high grade point average
  • Official transcripts of the courses you took during your college or university education
  • Work experience may be required for certain programs
  • Certificate in English Proficiency (for students from countries whose first language is not English)

  • A GRE/GMAT score may be required, in line with the admission requirements of certain programs.
