Liverpool Polytechnic became Liverpool John Moores University in 1992 by a decision of the British Parliament. Liverpool John Moores University runs two campuses across 38 buildings in total: City Campus and Mount Pleasant Campus. The City Campus, in the heart of Liverpool, largely runs along Byrom Street. It extends to Liverpool Exchange Train Station and surrounds Great Crosshall Street. From the City Campus you are a short walk from Liverpool's famous landmarks. These include the Central Library, Walker Art Gallery, World Museum, and St George's Hall.

The City Campus holds the Marybone Lecture Hall, Avril Robarts Library, Cherie Booth Building, Henry Cotton Building, and the James Parsons Building. The James Parsons Building hosts the Science, Engineering and Technology and Health Sciences departments. The closest student accommodation options to the City Campus are Libert Atlantic Point, Liberty Gardens, Marybone 1/2/3, Byrom Point, Grand Central, and Horizon Heights. Mount Pleasant Campus sits right next to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and the University of Liverpool.

It is home to the John Lennon Art and Design Building and the Faculty of Business and Law. The Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies is also based there. The Aldham Robarts Library, Liverpool Science Park, Joe H. Makin Drama Centre, and the Charlie Robertson Centre are also on the Mount Pleasant Campus. The closest student accommodation options to the Mount Pleasant Campus are Agnes Jones House, Cambridge Court, Grand Central, Grenville Street, Horizon Heights, Hardman House, and St Andrew's Gardens.

Copperas Hill lies between the City Campus and the Mount Pleasant Campus, and holds a Student Life Building and a Sports Building. On Copperas Hill the university offers students a wide range of services, from healthcare to career counseling. The Liverpool John Moores University Students' Union is also based here.

Campus Life

Liverpool John Moores University's City Campus and Mount Pleasant Campus sit in the centre of Liverpool. The campuses give all students a modern and inspiring learning environment, and they also help students feel right at home. Each campus has its own cafes, restaurants, and shops. Because they stand in the city centre, the campuses are surrounded by all the social and cultural opportunities Liverpool offers. On Copperas Hill, between the two campuses, there is a Student Life Building alongside the university's sports facilities.
