The main campus stands in Seoul, an ancient city that has stood for more than two thousand years. It sits inside the original city walls that marked the boundaries of the old capital during the Joseon Dynasty. Directly across from the campus is Changdeokgung, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Korea's best-preserved royal palaces. As the school expanded its offerings across different programs over time, some faculties moved to Suwon.
Both campuses of Sungkyunkwan University are designed around student needs. Across the university's campuses you will find modern classrooms, workshops and laboratories, computer and gaming rooms, gyms, shopping centers, cafes, and restaurants.
Sungkyunkwan University houses its students on campus, in what are known as the SKKU dormitories. The Humanities and Social Sciences Campus in Seoul has 10 dormitory buildings, and the Natural Sciences Campus in Suwon has 5. Dormitory entrances are secured with automatic RFID-key doors, so only students with legal access can enter. If you live in a dormitory, you can join activities such as pizza parties, outdoor trips, painting competitions, and yoga classes.
The university campuses have 1 school cafeteria and 5 restaurants. You can meet other students there over breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food is prepared with fresh ingredients each day.
