How to get into Dartmouth College

Dartmouth College maintains very high admissions standards and subjects every applicant to an extremely thorough review. Students wishing to apply to Dartmouth's undergraduate or graduate programs must meet the admission requirements listed below.

For Undergraduate Programs:

  • At least three, preferably four, Letters of Recommendation
  • Official transcripts listing the courses taken and grades earned during high school

For Graduate Programs:

Ranked among the most beautiful campuses in the United States, the Dartmouth College campus sits on 109 acres of green space in the Upper Valley region of New England.

Located in downtown Hanover, the Dartmouth College campus is 2.5 hours from Boston Logan International Airport, 90 minutes from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, and just 16 kilometers from Lebanon (N.H.) Municipal Airport.

Transportation to surrounding states and cities is available by bus and train.

In addition, Dartmouth College's shuttle services run regular routes to various central locations.

Campus Life

Dartmouth College's main campus is set on a terrace above the Connecticut River, covering 109 acres. The humanities college, medical school, engineering school, business school, sports and arts complexes, and numerous cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance of one another. The college town of Hanover adds to the campus offerings with a wide array of restaurants, cafes, and shops.

The Hopkins Center for the Arts, located right next to the university campus, bridges downtown life with the Dartmouth community.

The Dartmouth Green, which serves as a pedestrian hub for the campus, hosts a variety of events — from the famous Dartmouth Winter Carnival to weekly farmers markets.

The Dartmouth College campus hosts dozens of multicultural events, and more than 160 groups and organizations bring students and faculty together.

Baker-Berry Library, completed in 1928, holds a collection of 2.5 million books and hundreds of thousands of digital resources and offers spacious study areas for students.
