How to get into University of Siena
If you are an international student applying to an undergraduate program at the University of Siena, you must meet the following admission requirements.
- Completion of 12 years of primary and secondary education (if you finish high school in 11 years, you must complete a 1-year Foundation preparatory program)
- A minimum B2-level internationally recognized language certificate for English-language undergraduate or graduate study in Italy (such as IELTS or TOEFL)
- Having sat the YKS exam (both the TYT and AYT sessions are required)
- Sitting the entrance exams run by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) and reaching the required score, for undergraduate programs such as Psychology, Engineering, Economics, and Architecture
- Sitting the university's own admissions exam and reaching a sufficient score, for certain programs
- Alternatively, sitting the SAT exam for programs such as Business and Economics
If you are an international student applying to a graduate program at the University of Siena, you must meet the following admission requirements.
- A 4-Year Bachelor's Degree Diploma
- A High GPA
- Having earned at least 180 ECTS credits during undergraduate study
- An English Proficiency Certificate for programs taught in English (an English proficiency certificate obtained through internationally recognized exams such as IELTS or TOEFL iBT)
- An Italian Proficiency Certificate for programs taught in Italian

The campus is woven into the city of Siena, in Italy's Tuscany region. Because the layout is decentralized, university facilities sit throughout Siena's historic core. Academic spaces are set within the city's UNESCO World Heritage Site. The university's main administrative building, the Rettorato, occupies the 14th-century Palazzo del Rettore, a Gothic structure that reflects Siena's architectural heritage.
