University of Florence scholarships and financial aid

Italian universities offer scholarship programs for international students. These scholarships are generally worth between 5,000 and 12,000 EUR per year. They can also be awarded in amounts sufficient to cover a full year of tuition fees. The DSU scholarship is one of the best-known scholarships in Italy. The Italian government awards this grant based on the financial situation of the student's family. To apply for it, you must have already received a university acceptance offer.

Application Process

How to get into University of Florence

If you are an international student applying to an undergraduate program at the University of Florence, you must meet the following admission requirements.

  • Completion of 12 years of compulsory education (if you finish high school in 11 years, you must complete a one-year Foundation preparatory program)
  • An internationally recognized language certificate at a minimum B2 level for English-language undergraduate or graduate programs in Italy (such as IELTS or TOEFL)
  • Having sat the YKS exam (you must complete both the TYT and AYT sessions)
  • For undergraduate programs such as Psychology, Engineering, Economics, and Architecture, you must sit the entrance exams administered by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR). You must also achieve the required score.
  • Alternatively, for programs such as Business Administration and Economics, sitting the SAT exam

If you are an international student applying to a graduate program at the University of Florence, you must meet the following admission requirements.

  • A 4-year bachelor's degree diploma
  • A high GPA
  • At least 180 ECTS credits accumulated during your undergraduate studies
  • An English language proficiency certificate for programs taught in English (obtained through internationally recognized proficiency exams such as IELTS or TOEFL iBT)
  • An Italian language proficiency certificate for programs taught in Italian
  • A GRE/GMAT score may be required, in line with the specific admission requirements of the program you apply to.

Campus

Take a closer look at University of Florence

The University of Florence's campus is spread across the city of Florence, and the main center sits near the historic city center. Administrative offices and many departments are concentrated in the Novoli, Careggi, and Morgagni districts. The Faculty of Humanities is centered on Piazza San Marco.
