Founded in Beijing in 1958, the university later relocated to Hefei. The university's main campus is in Hefei. The University of Science and Technology of China has five campuses in Hefei β the capital and largest city of Anhui Province β as well as one of China's major national scientific research and education bases. Hefei is located in central eastern China and has a highly developed transportation system. Served by a robust transportation network connecting the city via airport, rail, and highway, access to the university's campuses is straightforward.
Surrounded by rivers that lend it a romantic character, Hefei enjoys a temperate climate and magnificent scenery.
Campus life at the University of Science and Technology of China is lively and varied. On campus, students have access to cafes and restaurants, computer rooms, sports facilities, student clubs, banks, and stationery shops. There are numerous dining halls on campus for both students and staff, though they operate during set hours β most dining halls, for example, are open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for lunch and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for dinner. Inside the dining halls, you'll find rows of food stalls.
To place an order, simply tell the server which dishes you want and swipe your campus card at the payment machine.
International students can arrange on-campus housing. When moving into a dormitory, you will need to sign a contract and complete the check-in process. Various types of dormitory accommodations are available for international students, including three-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment-style units. Accommodation rates vary depending on the type of housing.
Within the campus, cycling and walking are the most common modes of transportation. You can purchase your own bicycle or use bike-sharing services. Please note, however, that motorcycles are not permitted on campus.
