Beijing Normal University

Known colloquially as Beishida among its students, alumni, and faculty, Beijing Normal University (BNU) is a research-focused public university established in 1902 in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China. One of China's oldest and most prestigious universities, BNU stands out in particular for its achievements in the humanities and natural sciences, and is one of the few universities designated as “Double First Class” under China's “World First Class University and First Class Academic Discipline Construction” initiative. The word “normal” in the university's name derives from its origin as a teacher-training institution, known internationally as a “normal school.” Separated from Peking Imperial University by the Chinese Emperor following the Hundred Days' Reform in 1898, the university now provides higher education opportunities to more than 24,000 students at its campus spanning 74 hectares.

Prospective students who wish to apply to undergraduate programs offered by Beijing Normal University must meet the following admission requirements.

• Completion of 12 Years of Basic Education
• 4-Year High School Diploma
  • The Turkish high school diploma must be evaluated by the relevant authorities and the university. Following this evaluation, applicants may be required to take entrance exams specified by the university.
• YKS Exam Score
• Strong GPA
  or
• International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
  or
• GCE A-Level / International A-Level Diploma
  or
• SAT/ACT Score
  or
• Advanced Placement (AP)
  • The applicant must have taken and sat the AP exams in subjects relevant to the undergraduate program they are applying to.
• English Proficiency Certificate (For English-Language Programs)
  • An English proficiency certificate obtained through internationally recognized exams such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic.
• Chinese Proficiency Certificate (For Chinese-Language Programs)
  • A Chinese proficiency certificate obtained through internationally recognized Chinese language exams such as HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi)

In addition, prospective international students who wish to apply to programs offered by Beijing Normal University are required to take the university's own entrance exam.

Prospective students who wish to apply to postgraduate programs offered by Beijing Normal University must meet the following admission requirements.

• 4-year bachelor's degree
• Strong GPA
• English proficiency certificate for English-language programs
  • An English proficiency certificate obtained through exams such as TOEFL or IELTS
• Chinese proficiency certificate for Chinese-language programs
  • A Chinese proficiency certificate obtained through internationally recognized Chinese language exams such as HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi)
• Official transcripts listing all courses taken and grades received throughout the applicant's undergraduate education
• A GRE/GMAT score may be required depending on the specific admission requirements of the program applied to.
