The University of Leeds campus, built on approximately 500 hectares — with the main campus occupying 40 of those hectares — is located just 1.6 kilometers from the center of Leeds.
Within walking distance of the city center and well-known student neighborhoods, the entire campus is a smoke-free zone.
The University of Leeds Library, divided into 5 separate locations on campus, holds a collection of 2.78 million books, 26,000 print and electronic journals, 850 databases, and 6,000 e-books, making it one of the largest research libraries in the United Kingdom. More than 9,000 computers are available for student use throughout virtually every part of the university campus.
The university's inventory also includes 256 supercomputers. The vast majority of major academic disciplines have dedicated research facilities and state-of-the-art laboratories available to academic staff and students.
On campus there is a Driving Simulator — one of the most advanced simulators in the world — and an Airbus A320 Flight Simulator.
The University of Leeds campus features spacious study areas, libraries, green spaces, and laboratory and research facilities for student use. It also offers a sports center with a fitness gym costing approximately £12.2 million to build — with 250 workout stations — a 25-meter swimming pool, sports courts, and a climbing wall; Sports Park Weetwood for outdoor sports; numerous concert and event venues such as the Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall and stage@leeds for concerts, events, and performances; numerous museums and art galleries; and restaurants, cafes, and pubs such as Refectory, Hugo, and Parkinson Court Cafe for students to relax and socialize. Within the boundaries of the University of Leeds campus there are also 16 separate student housing complexes allocated for student accommodation.
