Politecnico di Torino

Politecnico di Torino (Polytechnic University of Turin) is a public university founded in Turin, Italy, in 1859. It is the oldest technical university in Italy, and the best after the Politecnico di Milano. It ranks among the top universities in Italy and across Europe. The university belongs to many university federations and networks.

These include the European Spatial Development Planning network (ESPD), Top International Managers in Engineering (TIME), the Consortium Linking Universities of Science and Technology for Education and Research (CLUSTER), the Partnership of a European Group of Aeronautics and Space Universities (PEGASUS), the Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies (NEREUS), the Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (CESAER), the European University Association (EUA), the European Aeronautics Science Network (EASN), and the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI).

Today the university provides higher education to 37,000 students.

Politecnico di Torino offers undergraduate and graduate programs under the names Laurea (Bachelor's) and Laurea Magistrale (Master's). Most of the undergraduate and graduate programs are taught in Italian, but programs taught in English are also available. The university also offers preparatory programs. These help you prepare for higher education and develop your Italian language proficiency before your first year of university study.

To apply to an undergraduate program at Politecnico di Torino, you must meet the following requirements.

• 4-Year High School Diploma + A combined score of at least 180 points on the TYT & YKS exams
• High Grade Point Average
  or
• International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
  or
• A-Level Diploma
• Official transcripts showing the courses you have taken and the grades you earned throughout your education
• English Proficiency Certificate for programs taught in English (a certificate from an internationally recognized exam such as IELTS or TOEFL iBT)
• Italian Proficiency Certificate for programs taught in Italian
• Depending on the undergraduate program you choose:

  • For the Department of Architecture; 

    You must take and pass the TIL-A exam administered by Politecnico di Torino.

  • For Engineering Departments;

    You must take and pass the TIL-I exam administered by Politecnico di Torino, or earn a sufficient score on at least one of the following: SAT, ACT, GRE, or GMAT.

  • For Design-Related Departments;

    You must take and pass the TIL-D exam administered by Politecnico di Torino.

  • For the Departments of Regional, Urban, Environmental, and Landscape Planning;

    You must take and pass the TIL-P exam administered by Politecnico di Torino.

  • For the Department of Industrial Production Technologies;

    You must take and pass the TIL-LP exam administered by Politecnico di Torino.

To apply to a graduate program at Politecnico di Torino, you must meet the following requirements.

• 4-Year Bachelor's Degree Diploma
• High Grade Point Average
• At least 180 ECTS credits accumulated during your undergraduate study
• English Proficiency Certificate for programs taught in English (a certificate from an internationally recognized exam such as IELTS or TOEFL iBT)
• Italian Proficiency Certificate for programs taught in Italian
• GRE/GMAT exam scores may be required, in line with the specific admission requirements of the program you apply to.
