Take a closer look at POLI Design
POLI.design is located in the Bovisa district in northern Milan, in a hub for education, research, and innovation with industrial roots. The campus is situated on the site of the historic Ceretti & Tanfani factory — once a production facility for cable car cables — which has been repurposed for POLI.design's academic activities, serving as a hub for the design school and collectively forming the POLIMI Design System. The campus is easily accessible by public transportation, with nearby train stations and tram lines connecting it to the city center. Spread across approximately 20,000 square meters and blending historic and contemporary architecture, the campus is home to specialized laboratories, studio spaces, and digital prototyping areas, fostering an environment open to interdisciplinary collaboration. Facilities such as the Academy of Experience Design and the Academy of Service Innovation offer students the opportunity to participate in the latest research and applied projects in collaboration with industry leaders, while the campus's modern design strengthens interaction among students, faculty, and industry leaders.
Deeply embedded in Milan's dynamic and artistic environment, the POLI.design Bovisa campus hosts a variety of events — including design competitions, masterclasses, and workshops — that bring together students, faculty, and industry leaders. Initiatives such as the Design Award Contest and the Design Challenge enable students to showcase their creativity and tackle real-world design challenges. The campus's proximity to Milan's design hubs allows students to attend various exhibitions, meetings with industry leaders, and cultural events. Orientation programs such as Welcome Week at POLI.design help new students settle into campus life and the city of Milan, while the campus provides access to libraries, studio spaces, and the DesignLibrary, which serves as a resource center for students.
