How to get into Monash University

Monash University offers preparatory programs under the name "English Language Courses" to help students new to university education prepare for higher education and develop English language proficiency.

In addition, prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by Monash University must meet the following requirements.

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
    or
  • At least 3 GCE A-Level Certificates (Pearson International A Levels)
    or
  • SAT/ACT Score + Advanced Placement (AP)
  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • For Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences programs, must sit the ISAT exam and achieve a qualifying score
  • English Proficiency Certificate
    • An English proficiency certificate obtained through English language tests such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or CAE
  • Official transcripts listing all courses taken and grades received during high school

Prospective students wishing to apply to graduate programs offered by Monash University must meet the following requirements.

  • Strong GPA
  • English Proficiency Certificate
    • An English proficiency certificate obtained through English language tests such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or CAE

Monash University has a multi-campus structure, with its main campuses in Melbourne, Australia, and international campuses in Malaysia, China, India, and Italy.

Monash University operates five major campuses in Australia: Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula, Parkville, and Law Chambers in Melbourne's Central Business District. 

The Clayton campus, Monash's largest and oldest, spans 100 hectares and is home to most of the university's faculties, including Engineering, Science, Medicine, and Business.

It is also home to world-class research facilities such as the Australian Synchrotron, the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, and the New Horizons Research Centre.

The Caulfield campus is Monash's hub for business, design, and the arts, with a focus on the creative industries and professional education. The Parkville campus focuses on pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, contributing to medical research and drug development, while the Peninsula campus is known for its expertise in health sciences, physiotherapy, and nursing.

Located in the heart of Melbourne, Monash Law Chambers offers graduate law programs in close proximity to legal institutions. Monash's first international campus, Monash Malaysia, was established in 1998, offers programs in engineering, business, medicine, and IT, and serves more than 8,000 students.

In China, Monash collaborates with Southeast University in Suzhou, providing advanced degrees in business and engineering through the Southeast University–Monash University Joint Graduate School.

Monash also operates a research and education center in Mumbai, India, focused on science, technology, and social impact research.

Additionally, the Prato Centre in Italy serves as a European hub for humanities, law, and art history programs, giving Monash students the opportunity to study in a historically and culturally rich environment.

Campus Life

Students can join cultural, academic, athletic, social, and professional development clubs through more than 150 student organizations. The Monash Student Association (MSA), based on the Clayton campus, is one of the most active student associations, organizing events such as the Host Scheme (orientation for new students), Stress Less Week, and SummerFest.

The Caulfield campus has its own student association, MONSU, which supports students through advocacy, events, and workshops. International students are supported by groups such as Monash International Student Services (MISS) and cultural clubs representing more than 100 nationalities.

Monash also has a thriving arts and performance scene, with student-run theater productions, film societies, and music groups that contribute to campus life.
