Campus

Take a closer look at Eindhoven University of Technology

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is in the center of Eindhoven, in the south of the Netherlands, on a single, vast campus. The campus combines modern architectural design with plenty of green space, which creates a stimulating atmosphere for study, work and rest. It is made up of several buildings, each given over to its own set of faculties, departments and services.

Among the key buildings are Vertigo, a very tall structure that houses the Department of the Built Environment; Atlas, one of the most sustainable educational buildings in the world; and MetaForum, which holds the university's major library and the mathematics and computer science department.

TU/e places a high value on sustainability. Several of its buildings, Atlas among them, have earned high sustainability ratings. That comes from energy-efficient design, recycled materials, and water and waste management systems. The campus has a large library, several laboratories and research facilities, study areas and computer rooms, among other things. Sports facilities, restaurants, cafes and on-campus housing are all provided. The TU/e campus has plenty of outdoor places and green areas where students and staff can unwind, including "the Dommel," a big pond.

The campus also has sculptures and artworks, which add to its visual appeal. Its central position in Eindhoven makes the university easy to reach. The campus is a short walk from the Eindhoven railway station, and a number of different public transit options also serve it.

Campus Life

On campus and off, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) has a lively and active student life. There are several student organizations, some built around academic subjects and others around social activities, sports and culture. These organizations give students the chance to build a network, share an interest with others and develop leadership skills. The university has its own sports center, which offers a wide range of sports. You can join sports groups, sign up for group courses and use the gym.

Studium Generale, the university's cultural center, runs a wide range of events, including lectures, workshops and performances in music, dance and theater. It lets students look beyond their own academic field.

On-campus housing is offered and gives students a safe, convenient place to live. Many students in Eindhoven prefer an off-campus apartment instead. On campus there are several study options, including the library, dedicated study spaces and social areas in the faculty buildings. TU/e provides a range of student services, including counseling, career advising and support for foreign students. The university and its student associations hold events regularly, such as orientation weeks for new students, cultural festivals, sporting events and academic conferences.

Eindhoven itself is noted for creativity and design, and is home to a number of high-tech enterprises and startups. The city's culture of innovation reaches into its thriving arts sector, its modern architecture and its many annual festivals.
