Tilburg University

Tilburg University is a public research university in Tilburg, in the southern Netherlands. Its areas of expertise include the social and behavioral sciences, economics, law, business sciences, theology, and the humanities. It is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands. About 20,000 students are enrolled, and roughly 4,200 of them come from other countries, some 21 percent of the student body. In many programs you will be taught in English.

The motto of the university is "Understanding Society," and it reflects the institution's commitment to contributing to society through education and research.

The university is made up of several schools. They include the Tilburg School of Economics and Management and Tilburg Law School. The Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences are also part of it. It is known for high standards in teaching and research. In its specialist fields, such as economics and business administration, it ranks consistently well worldwide. The institution is also known for the high standards of its physical facilities.

It places significant emphasis on basic research and on research with practical applications alike.

Tilburg University runs a preparatory program called “Language and Preparatory Program”, which helps new students prepare for higher education and build language proficiency 

If you are an international student applying to an undergraduate program at Tilburg University, you must meet the admission requirements set out below.

• Successful completion of 12 years of basic education
• High school diploma with at least 4 Advanced Placement examinations (not accepted are: AP Capstone, AP Research, AP Seminar and AP Studio Art) with a minimum score of 3
• A high grade point average

• International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
  • Tilburg University accepts only the full International Baccalaureate Diploma, which includes the core (Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and CAS) and subjects taken from groups 1-5 or groups 1-6 - of which at least three subjects must be at Higher Level. The overall score must be ≥ 24. Individual diploma program course results are not accepted for admission purposes.

• IGCSE/International AS & A-Levels
  • At least 3 accepted GCE A-levels in general academic subjects (see below) with grades A*-C, plus 3 GCSE academic subjects with grades A*-C or 4-9 (six different subjects in total).
• Certificate in English proficiency for programs taught in English
  • Academic IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.0 and a minimum score of 5.5 for each section.
  • TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 80 for the traditional TOEFL iBT test at a test center or the TOEFL iBT Paper Edition.
  • Cambridge English test results: C1 advanced (formerly CAE) or C2 proficiency (formerly CPE). For both C1 and C2, we accept a score of A, B, or C.
• Certificate in Dutch proficiency for programs taught in Dutch
  • CNaVT is an international Dutch proficiency exam that you can take worldwide
• Official transcripts of the courses you took throughout your high school education

If you are an international student applying to a graduate program at Tilburg University, you must meet the admission requirements outlined below.

• 4-year bachelor's degree diploma
• A high grade point average
• Official transcripts of the courses you took during your college or university education
• Work experience may be required for certain programs
• Certificate in English proficiency for programs taught in English
  • IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English Tests (C1 advanced or C2 proficiency)
• Certificate in Dutch proficiency for programs taught in Dutch
  • CNaVT is an international Dutch proficiency exam that you can take worldwide
• A GRE/GMAT exam score may be required, in line with the specific admission requirements of certain programs.
