How to get into Boston College

Boston College offers a preparatory program called "English Language Learning-(ELL)" to help students who will start their first year at the university gain English language proficiency.

Prospective international students who wish to apply for undergraduate programs offered by Boston College must meet the admission requirements outlined below.

  • Completion of 12 Years of Basic Education
  • 4-Year High School Diploma
  • High-Grade Point Average
  • Official transcripts of the courses taken by the applicant in 11th and 12th grade
  • Standardized Test Scores (SAT or ACT)
  • Certificate in English Proficiency
    • Certificate in English proficiency received through internationally recognized proficiency tests such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT.

Take a closer look at Boston College

Boston College’s main campus is situated in the Chestnut Hill town which is the capital of Massachussets. It covers over 120 acres. The campus, where traditional and modern architectural styles blend together, is a home for most of the Gothic-style architectural buildings. Although academic buildings are located in the central section of the campus, the hostel buildings and the sports facilities of undergraduates are all located in the periphery of the campus.

The university grounds include several green areas like a big quadrangle called the "Dustbowl" as well as the "Reservoir" where the students enjoy jogging and walking. Some of the iconic structures on campus are the Gasson Hall, which is the oldest structure celebrating its 100 years of existence and has a distinct bell tower; Devlin Hall, the home to the College of Social Work; and the Conte Forum, a multi-purpose arena used for athletic events, along with concerts and other events.

The Boston College campus with its large green spaces and structures that blend in with the natural environment, is recognized as one of the most beautiful campuses in the United States by Princeton Review and has received many awards including the landscape and sustainability.

Campus Life

Boston College has a vibrant and enriching campus life which students can also partake in academically, socially and culturally. Accredited with more than 200 student associations and societies, the university caters to a large array of student interests that encompasses academic, sporting and cultural groups. The university also has a strong athletic reputation, with teams taking part in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Coast Conference; and students can join the clubs of various sports such as football, basketball, soccer and hockey.

The campus also hosts a variety of dining areas such as dining halls, cafes and restaurants that offer a taste of different dishes from all over the world. The university has traditional dormitories, apartment blocks and town-style houses for students, offering them with the best lodging options. Boston College also provides academic support services that include writing centers, academic coaches, and tutors aiming at assisting with academic success.
