Campus

Take a closer look at Georgetown University

Georgetown University operates across 4 separate campuses in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C.: the main undergraduate campus located in the Georgetown neighborhood where undergraduate programs are held, the Medical Center, SCS (School of Continuing Studies), and the Law Center.

The undergraduate campus and Medical Center are situated together in the Georgetown neighborhood in the northwest of Washington and form the university's main campus. The other centers where the university operates are located in various parts of Washington, and transportation between the campuses and the Washington Metro is provided through a shuttle bus system known as GUTS buses.

Georgetown University's undergraduate and medical school campuses are positioned on a bluff overlooking the Potomac River, facing Northern Virginia. Because of its location, Georgetown University is often referred to as "The Hilltop."

The medical school is located on the northwestern portion of the main campus on Reservoir Road and is integrated with Georgetown University Hospital. The Law Center is located on Capitol Hill on New Jersey Avenue near Union Station and consists of a total of 5 buildings.

SCS (School of Continuing Studies) is located in downtown Washington in a 95,000-square-meter building and hosts the university's graduate programs in fields such as Applied Intelligence, Journalism, Public Relations, Real Estate, Sports Industry Management, and Urban and Regional Planning.

Campus Life

With an exceptionally energetic and open-minded community, Georgetown University strives to make international students from every corner of the world feel just as at home as domestic students.

Student residence halls are at the heart of university life, and more than 350 registered student clubs and organizations operate within the university. Some of the shops, cafes, and restaurants on university campuses are run by the university's own students.

Georgetown University is home to one of the oldest student societies in all of the United States — a debate club founded in 1830 — and, alongside its student clubs and organizations, the country's largest student-owned and student-operated company, Students of Georgetown, Inc. Founded in 1972 and known as "The Corp," this student company manages the operation of various shops on university campuses.

The university is also home to another student-run group, Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service ("GERMS"), an all-volunteer ambulance service founded in 1982 that serves both the campus and the surrounding community.

Additionally, the Lincoln Memorial, the National Gallery of Art, the famous Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, the Library of Congress, and the National Air and Space Museum are among the must-visit attractions in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C.
