Texas A&M University (TAMU) was founded in 1876 as the first public institution of higher education in Texas. Originally established as the Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College, it became part of the Morrill Land-Grant Act of 1862, which aimed to provide education in agriculture, engineering, and military science.

In 1963, the institution was officially renamed Texas A&M University, with "A&M" retained as a historical reference rather than an abbreviation. How to get into Texas A&M University

The College Station campus, spanning 5,200 acres, is one of the largest campuses in the United States and is home to significant academic, research, and sports facilities. The campus features iconic landmarks such as Kyle Field, one of the country's largest collegiate football stadiums, and The Century Tree, a beloved symbol of tradition.

The Memorial Student Center (MSC) serves as the heart of student activities, providing spaces for organizations, events, and social gatherings. Texas A&M is also known for its Research Park, which is home to state-of-the-art facilities such as the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing. 

Texas A&M operates multiple satellite campuses across Texas and around the world. Texas A&M at Galveston is a specialized unit focused on marine biology, ocean sciences, and maritime studies, supporting students pursuing careers in maritime industries and the U.S. Merchant Marine.

Texas A&M Qatar, established in 2003 in Doha, Qatar, offers engineering programs and contributes to research in energy and technology in collaboration with the Qatar Foundation.

Additionally, the Texas A&M Health Science Center operates campuses in several locations including Houston, Dallas, and Temple, supporting medical and health-related research and education.

The McAllen Higher Education Center offers specialized degree programs for students in South Texas, while Texas A&M Fort Worth is a new research-focused campus currently under development.
