The University of Colorado-Denver is a research-focused public university located in Denver, the capital of the US state of Colorado. Although the institution, which is now a part of the Colorado University System, was officially founded in 1912, its roots can be traced to the School of Medicine and Surgery opened by the University of Colorado on its Boulder campus in 1883.
