The University of Illinois Chicago offers a preparatory program called “Intensive English” to prepare students who are about to begin their first year of university and help them attain language proficiency.

The University of Illinois Chicago, the largest university in Chicago, consists of an East Campus located in Chicago's Near West Side, just a 15-minute walk from downtown Chicago, and a West Campus, also in the Near West Side, which is home to the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Applied Health Sciences, and Public Health, as well as the Health Sciences Library. The Blue Line, part of Chicago's public transit system known as the Chicago L, passes through 3 stations near the University of Illinois Chicago's campuses, connecting the East and West Campuses to the downtown area.

Campus Life

The University of Illinois Chicago, a city university operating across two locations — the East Campus and the West Campus — has campuses only a 15-minute walk from downtown Chicago, placing students close to all the cultural and social amenities the city has to offer. The campuses of the University of Illinois Chicago feature sports facilities, libraries, and computer labs that students can use, and the university is also home to a large number of student organizations and clubs that students can join.

The UIC Student Recreation Facility, which opened in 2006 on both the East and West Campuses, is a recreational center where UIC students can engage in leisure activities. The University of Illinois Chicago's Sports and Fitness Center — equipped with fitness rooms, an Olympic swimming pool, multipurpose courts, and racquetball courts — gives students the opportunity to engage in sports during their free time.
