How to get into University of Illinois Chicago

The University of Illinois Chicago offers a preparatory program, “Intensive English”, for students who are about to begin their first year of university. The program helps them attain language proficiency.

If you are an international student applying to an undergraduate program at the University of Illinois Chicago, you must meet the following admission requirements.

  • Completion of 12 Years of Basic Education
  • Four-Year High School Diploma
  • Strong GPA
  • Official transcripts showing the courses you took in high school and the grades you received
  • SAT or ACT Score
  • English Proficiency Certificate
    • An English proficiency certificate from an exam such as IELTS or TOEFL iBT
  • Personal Statement & Essay

Academic qualifications from programs such as GCE A-Level, International Baccalaureate, and Advanced Placement are not sufficient for direct admission. If you are enrolled in one of these programs, you may request course credit for the courses you have completed.

Take a closer look at University of Illinois Chicago

The University of Illinois Chicago, the largest university in Chicago, has two campuses. East Campus is in Chicago's Near West Side, a 15-minute walk from downtown Chicago. West Campus is also in the Near West Side. It is home to the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Applied Health Sciences, and Public Health, as well as the Health Sciences Library. The Blue Line, part of Chicago's public transit system known as the Chicago L, passes through 3 stations near the campuses. It connects the East and West Campuses to the downtown area.

Campus Life

The University of Illinois Chicago is a city university with two locations, the East Campus and the West Campus. Both are only a 15-minute walk from downtown Chicago. That puts you close to all the cultural and social amenities the city has to offer. The campuses have sports facilities, libraries, and computer labs that you can use, and the university is also home to a large number of student organizations and clubs that you can join.

The UIC Student Recreation Facility, which opened in 2006 on both the East and West Campuses, is a recreational center where UIC students can engage in leisure activities. The university's Sports and Fitness Center has fitness rooms, an Olympic swimming pool, multipurpose courts, and racquetball courts. It gives students the opportunity to engage in sports during their free time.
