How to get into University of California, Davis

Take a closer look at University of California, Davis

The University of California, Davis campus spans approximately 5,300 acres. Located in the heart of California's Central Valley, the campus is known for its natural, park-like setting that combines academic buildings, research facilities, and open green spaces with agricultural fields and botanical gardens. 

The UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden — a 100-acre living museum along the banks of Putah Creek — is a popular campus feature, offering opportunities for walking or studying. UC Davis is home to numerous state-of-the-art facilities that support its strong research and academic programs.

These include the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science, which showcases the university's excellence in viticulture and food science, and the UC Davis Medical Center near Sacramento, a nationally recognized teaching hospital. 

The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts hosts concerts, lectures, and theatrical performances, serving as a cultural hub for both the campus and the surrounding community.

Campus Life

Sports and traditions play an important role in student life at UC Davis. The university competes in NCAA Division I as part of the Big West Conference, and UC Davis athletes — known as the Aggies — have achieved success in sports such as football, basketball, soccer, and track and field. 

Homecoming and Picnic Day are the most important campus traditions, with Picnic Day being the university's largest annual event. Dating back to 1909, Picnic Day draws tens of thousands of visitors for parades, student-run exhibits, performances, and a showcase of the university's academic and cultural achievements.

Other unique traditions include the annual Pajamarino — a homecoming rally dating to 1912 in which pajama-clad students greet returning alumni at the train station.
