Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST)

The Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, more commonly known as UNIST, is a public university established in 2007 in Ulsan, South Korea. Together with KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology), and DGIST (Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology), UNIST is one of South Korea's four science and technology institutes.

It was established in response to the growing demand for higher education in Ulsan — South Korea's industrial hub, where industry leaders such as Hyundai Motor, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and SK Energy carry out their manufacturing and administrative operations. UNIST conducts research and educational activities, particularly in the natural sciences and engineering, and uses English as the language of instruction across all of its programs. The Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology provides higher education opportunities to more than 7,200 students at its campus in Eonyang.
