Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, known as GIST, was established by the South Korean government in 1993. Founded to further advance science and technology, the institution trains expert scientists in their fields. Providing a world-class education, GIST promotes collaborative domestic and international research programs within academia.
Originally offering only graduate education, the school began offering its first undergraduate programs in 2014 and is the first university in the country to adopt an innovative system built on a core science curriculum. International prospective students wishing to pursue undergraduate education at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology must meet the following requirements:

All students admitted to GIST pay an enrollment fee at the start of their first semester. This is a non-refundable fee of 680,000 won that will provide access to various GIST programs and services at no additional charge. This payment is made at the time of registration.
