Since education in Germany is free, there are not many scholarship opportunities for international students. To be eligible for a scholarship, you need an outstanding academic background and a very low income. A physical disability or belonging to a minority group are also factors that affect the scholarship process. You can apply for undergraduate scholarships in the 3rd semester at the earliest, and for graduate scholarships in the 2nd semester at the earliest. A one-time fee of €500 - €1,000 is paid with funds from the Bavarian government.

Admission Requirements For International Students
Undergraduate
If you are an international student applying to an undergraduate program at Technical University of Munich, you must meet the admission requirements set out below.
- A Recognized Secondary School Leaving Certificate
or - International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
or - European Baccalaureate Diploma
or - GCE A-Level or International Advanced Level
otherwise - If you have a High School Diploma from a private school with accreditation from the USA;
- Then the German authorities must first determine whether your certificates fulfill the requirements for High School diplomas from the USA. If these requirements are not fulfilled, the German authorities will then evaluate whether you have successfully completed any years of study at a university.
- If you have successfully completed one year of a bachelor‘s degree programme at a recognised university;
- Then you qualify to apply for the Studienkolleg (preparatory course) in Germany. You may select a preparatory course in the same subject-area as your previous academic studies.
- If you have successfully completed two years of a bachelor‘s degree programme at a recognised university;
- Then you qualify to apply for a bachelor‘s degree in Germany. You may select a subject in the same subject-area as your previous academic studies.
Please note that TUM asks for proof of proficiency in the language of instruction of your chosen program. For programs taught in German, you typically need to present a TestDaF, DSH, or Goethe-Institut certificate. For programs taught in English, a TOEFL or IELTS score is usually required. The specific language requirements can vary by program.
Graduate
