Kyushu University, or Kyūshū Daigaku (九州大学), is a public university founded in 1903 in Fukuoka Prefecture on the island of Kyushu in Japan. As the fourth imperial university in Japan, Kyushu University is recognized as one of Japan's most prestigious, research-oriented universities, and is a member of the Alliance of Asian Liberal Arts Universities along with the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, and Peking University. How to get into Kyushu University
Kyushu University recommends that prospective students wishing to apply to undergraduate and graduate programs participate in the university's Japanese language education program in order to acquire academic-level Japanese language proficiency.
That said, students wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by Kyushu University are required to meet the conditions specified below.
- 4-Year High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, if applicable
- Official transcript documents listing the courses and grades received by the applicant throughout secondary school
- English Proficiency Certificate (English Proficiency Certificate obtained through English proficiency exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, and Cambridge ESOL)
- Japanese Proficiency Certificate for prospective students applying to programs where the language of instruction is Japanese
- In addition, prospective students may be required to take Kyushu University's own academic and language proficiency exams.

Kyushu University comprises six different campuses, one of which is a hospital campus. Chikushi Campus, home to the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences (IGSES) and two research institutes (the Research Institute for Applied Mechanics and the Institute for Materials Chemistry and Engineering), is located just 30 minutes from the center of Fukuoka. Ito Campus, the newest campus of Kyushu University, is located in the center of the Itoshima Peninsula, on the western side of the city of Fukuoka. With development work ongoing, Ito Campus is home to the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Education. The other faculties of the university are located on the Hakozaki, Maidashi, and Ohashi campuses, while the Beppu site houses forests and farms used for research purposes. Fukuoka Prefecture's highly dense public transportation network makes commuting between campuses quite convenient.
Kyushu University's campuses feature shops where students can go shopping, cafeterias and restaurants where they can eat, cafes where they can relax and unwind, student centers where they can expand their social circles, and bookstores where they can obtain course materials and books. Sports and fitness centers where students can work out are located on the Hakozaki, Ito, Chikushi, and Ohashi campuses. In addition, student communities within the university that students can join regularly organize social activities.
