How to get into Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech)
Applicants wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by the Tokyo Institute of Technology must fulfill the following requirements:
- Completion of 12 years of primary and secondary education
- High GPA diploma
- International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma
- English proficiency certificate obtained through scores on English language exams such as TOEFL or IELTS
- Official transcripts listing the courses taken and grades earned throughout high school
- Application fee
Applicants wishing to apply to graduate programs offered by the Tokyo Institute of Technology must fulfill the following requirements:
- Four-year bachelor's degree diploma
- High GPA
- English proficiency certificate obtained through scores on English language exams such as TOEFL or IELTS
- Official transcripts listing the courses taken and grades earned throughout their studies
- Application fee
International applicants must take a written or oral examination to be admitted to the Department of International Development Engineering (IDE). Please note that these exams are conducted in Japanese.
Prospective students must take entrance examinations administered by the National Center for University Entrance Examinations and Tokyo Tech (Admissions Division).
The application fee for undergraduate departments is 17,000 JPY. The application fee for graduate departments is 30,000 JPY.

Tokyo Tech's main campus is located in Ōokayama, on the border of Meguro and Ota, with the main entrance facing Ōokayama Station. The other campuses are located in Suzukakedai and Tamachi. All three of Tokyo Tech's campuses provide a comfortable environment for a truly unique educational experience. Of the approximately 10,500 students across the Ookayama, Suzukakedai, and Tamachi campuses, half are enrolled in undergraduate programs and the other half in master's and doctoral programs.

All of Tokyo Tech's campuses feature classrooms and laboratories equipped with the latest technology, cafes and restaurants offering delicious food, stores, libraries with extensive academic collections, study lounges, and sports facilities. Dormitories where students can stay are also available on campus.
Located in the heart of Tokyo, the Ookayama Campus is home to most of the school's undergraduate students. It offers easy access to all major transportation hubs in and around the metropolis. The Suzukakedai Campus sits on the border of Tokyo and Yokohama and houses most of the institute's research centers, laboratories, and units. The Tamachi Campus is the institute's lifelong learning center. It occupies a prime location in the center of Tokyo and also serves as the home of the Tokyo Tech-affiliated high school.
