Queen's University Belfast

Queen's University Belfast is a research-intensive public university founded in 1845 in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. It began in 1845 as Queen's College Belfast, one of the founding colleges of the Queen's University of Ireland. The founding group also included Queen's College, Cork and Queen's College, Galway. The university's roots reach back further, to the Belfast Academic Institution, which opened in 1810.

It is the ninth-oldest university in the United Kingdom and a member of the Russell Group, a coalition of 24 leading research-intensive universities. That group includes Oxford University, Cambridge University, and Imperial College London. The university also belongs to prestigious organizations such as the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, Universities UK, and Universities Ireland.

It has produced more than 150,000 graduates to date, and it provides higher education to about 25,000 students today, including international students from 85 different countries.

Queen's University Belfast offers preparatory programs called the "INTO Queen's International Foundation Programme" and "INTO Queen's International Year One". They prepare new students for higher education and build their English language proficiency.
