Cleveland State University is a research-focused public university founded in 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. Taking on its current form in 1964 when the state acquired Fenn College (a private institution founded in 1923), CSU has grown into a major urban university serving Northeast Ohio and beyond. With a diverse student body of approximately 14,000 students across undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs, the university offers more than 175 academic programs spread across various colleges, including the Monte Ahuja College of Business, the Washkewicz College of Engineering, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and Human Services, and the College of Health.

How to get into Cleveland State University

Cleveland State University's main campus, Downtown Campus, is located to the east of downtown Cleveland and spans approximately 35 hectares, comprising classrooms, laboratories, libraries, recreational facilities, and student housing. In addition to the Downtown Campus, Cleveland State University also operates at the Lakeland Campus and locations in Lorain County through partnership agreements with institutions such as Lakeland Community College and Lorain County Community College.

Operating across three locations — Downtown Campus, Lakeland Campus, and Lorain County Campus — Cleveland State University has a Student Life Department that works to provide quality services and programs to enhance students' university experience and is an integral part of the Cleveland State University community. As an urban university, Cleveland State University's main campus is located just east of downtown Cleveland and is very close to all of the cultural and social amenities the city has to offer.
