The campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is situated along a stunning stretch of California's central coastline and is regarded as one of the most beautiful campuses in the United States. The 1,055-acre main campus is surrounded on three sides by the Pacific Ocean and is located just 10 miles west of downtown Santa Barbara, immediately adjacent to the community of Isla Vista. The university has more than 200 buildings, including state-of-the-art laboratories, lecture halls, libraries, and residential facilities.
Davidson Library is the main academic library, housing millions of volumes and extensive digital resources. At 175 meters tall, the university's Storke Tower is an important campus landmark and a symbol of UCSB. The campus is also home to several major research centers, including the Marine Science Institute, the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, and the California NanoSystems Institute.
