University of Warwick overview

The University of Warwick, approved for establishment in 1961 and granted its Royal Charter in 1965, is a public university located outside Coventry in the West Midlands and Warwickshire area of England.

Founded after World War II with the aim of advancing higher education, the University of Warwick incorporated the institution formerly known as Coventry College of Education in 1978, growing into a university spread across approximately 162 hectares.

The University of Warwick began its academic life in 1964 with only a small group of graduate students, admitted its first undergraduate class of 450 students in October 1965, and has since grown to the capacity to educate more than 28,000 students, over 9,000 of whom are international.

Today, the University of Warwick's 29 academic departments and more than 50 research centers and institutes are organized under 3 faculties: the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine, and the Faculty of Social Sciences.

In addition to being a member of the Russell Group, which includes the United Kingdom's most prestigious universities, the University of Warwick holds membership in numerous respected organizations and bodies including AACSB, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Association of MBAs, EQUIS, the European University Association, the Midlands Innovation Group, Sutton 13, and Universities UK.

How to get into University of Warwick

The University of Warwick offers a preparatory program called the “Pre-Sessional English Programme” to prepare incoming students for higher education and develop their English language proficiency.

International applicants wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by the University of Warwick must meet the following admission requirements.

  • Anatolian High School Diploma / Science High School Diploma
    • Only diplomas from high schools recognized by the University of Warwick are accepted.
  • High GPA

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma

  • 3 International A-Level courses with grades in the ABB to A*A*A range

Take a closer look at University of Warwick

The University of Warwick campus, located just outside Coventry, is built on an area of 290 hectares. While the University of Warwick also has a campus in Wellesbourne, the vast majority of its activities take place at the main campus in Coventry.

On the University of Warwick Campus, you will find the National Automotive Innovation Centre, where new technologies are being developed to reduce humanity's dependence on fossil fuels and lower carbon dioxide emissions; the Mathematical Sciences Building, the most energy-efficient building on campus, which houses the departments of mathematics, statistics, and computer science; and the newly opened Sports and Wellness Centre, which aims to make the University of Warwick Campus the most active campus in the United Kingdom — while the renovation and expansion of the Warwick Arts Centre, the Faculty of Arts, and the Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building are among the projects recently completed on campus.

The University of Warwick Campus, which welcomes students from many countries around the world, features a Graduate Centre where graduate students can find support, collaborate, and participate in regular activities and workshops; outdoor spaces with stunning views where students who need to unwind or want to focus and work in quiet can enjoy themselves; the newly renovated Arts Centre — which houses an art gallery, three new cinema screens, two conference rooms, and a studio, and welcomes artists from across the country working in various disciplines; the new Sports and Wellness Centre, which encourages students to stay active at all times; restaurants, bars, and cafes where students can meet new people or catch up with friends; and shops and supermarkets located in the Piazza, just a ten-minute walk from the central campus, where students can do their shopping.
