University of the Pacific, or UOP for short, began in 1851 as California Wesleyan College, and it is California's first university. It is a private university with a research focus. Its School of Medicine, founded in 1858, was the first medical school in the western United States. The UOP Conservatory of Music, opened in 1878, was the first conservatory there. Today the university offers more than 50 undergraduate and more than 40 graduate programs.
The main campus, the Stockton Campus, is in Stockton, a small city between San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento, which gives students a safer environment.

If you are an international student applying to an undergraduate program at University of the Pacific, you must meet the following admission requirements.

- 4-Year High School Diploma
- Strong GPA
- Official transcripts showing the courses you took and the grades you earned throughout high school
- SAT or ACT Score
- English Proficiency Certificate
- An English proficiency certificate from a recognized proficiency exam such as IELTS or TOEFL iBT
- Personal Statement & Essay
Qualifications from programs such as GCE A-Level, International Baccalaureate, and Advanced Placement are not enough for direct admission; if you are enrolled in one of these programs, however, you may request course credit for the courses you have taken.

Take a closer look at University of the Pacific
University of the Pacific has three campuses in total — Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco — all in the state of California. You take all undergraduate courses at the main Stockton Campus, while graduate courses are offered at the San Francisco and Sacramento campuses. The Stockton Campus, regarded as one of the most beautiful campuses on the East Coast of America, spans about 55 acres. The Calaveras River runs through the Stockton Campus, and historic buildings and green spaces surround it.
On campus you will find residence halls, common areas, and recreation centers open for student use.
The Stockton Campus, where you study as an undergraduate, has residence halls with a variety of amenities. You can live in a shared room or a single room, depending on what you prefer. Dining halls and restaurants on campus and in the residence halls cover students' dining needs. The campus sits in the heart of Stockton, so you can get around by bicycle or public transportation. The campus has seven grass fields of varying sizes for sports such as rugby and soccer, 12 tennis courts, walking paths, and a fitness center.
You can use these athletic facilities by joining one of the 11 active sports clubs at University of the Pacific, or on your own. More than 150 student clubs also help students enrich their academic lives culturally. In your free time, you can attend theater performances, concerts, and shows organized by the university's performing arts clubs.
