How to get into Freie Universität Berlin
If you want to apply to the undergraduate programs offered by the Free University of Berlin, you must meet the following conditions.
- High school diploma
- High GPA
- German Proficiency Certificate (earned with scores from exams such as TestDaF, DSH, Telc, Goethe-Zertifikat)
- English Proficiency Certificate (earned with scores from exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEFL i-BT, UNIcert), if the department you apply to requires it
- Proof that you have been accepted to a 4-year undergraduate degree program in Turkey
If you want to apply to the master's programs offered by the Free University of Berlin, you must meet the following conditions.
- 4-Year Bachelor's Degree Diploma
- High GPA
- German Proficiency Certificate (earned with scores from exams such as TestDaF, DSH, Telc, Goethe-Zertifikat)
- English Proficiency Certificate (earned with scores from exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEFL i-BT, UNIcert), if the department you apply to requires it
- Certified transcript and diploma supplement showing that you took at least 180 ECTS courses during your university education

The Free University of Berlin is divided into 4 different campuses in Berlin, the capital of Germany. These are the Dahlem Campus, the Lankwitz Geocampus, the Düppel Campus and the Benjamin Franklin Campus. Most of its facilities are on the Dahlem Campus in the southwest of Berlin. The Lankwitz Geocampus was once part of the faculty of education. It now houses the earth sciences department and part of the university archives. The University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is on the Düppel Campus, only 2 kilometers from the main campus. That campus consists of many clinics and institutes.
The campus that opened in the same year the university was founded is named after Benjamin Franklin, for the post-war United States support of the university and Germany. It stands about 3 kilometers southeast of Dahlem, with medical institutes, clinics and lecture halls within its borders. It is one of the largest medical facilities in Europe. Transportation between the campuses runs on Berlin's dense public transport network. Dahlem Dorf and Thielplatz stations connect the university to the U3 line of Berlin's U-Bahn systems.
The Lichterfelde West station on the S1 line of the Berlin S-Bahn system connects the university to the center of Berlin.
The Dahlem area is an important point in terms of research and culture. Many buildings there belong to the Max Planck Society. Among them are the Max Planck Institute for Educational Research and the Max Planck Institute for the Science of History. The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics is another of them. Near Schlachtensee lake, a student village completed in the 1960s provides accommodation for students in 27 buildings. The Free University of Berlin has Germany's largest library system.
It holds more than 8.5 million printed volumes and more than 25,000 publications in 49 separate libraries, institutes and collections. The university is also home to the Berlin Botanical Garden, built on 43 hectares and home to around 22,000 species. The university sports center on Königin-Luise street offers students the opportunity to do sports. The campuses sit very close to the city center of Berlin, at the heart of the social and cultural opportunities the city offers.
