Domus Academy
Domus Academy overview
Domus Academy began in Milan in 1982, founded by the Mazzocchi family, owners of Editoriale Domus, publisher of Domus and Quattroruote magazines. It is one of Italy's first postgraduate design schools. The school gained prestige quickly through influential figures such as fashion designer Gianfranco Ferré, on the faculty from 1983 to 1989. Architect Andrea Branzi served as cultural director through the school's first decade. Designers including Ettore Sottsass, Alessandro Mendini, and Philippe Starck also taught and led workshops.
Their work fostered the Academy's culture of innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Academy's "learning by doing" method puts human-centered design and hands-on experience first. It has made the Academy a leader in design education. Over the years, Domus Academy has earned international recognition, including the Compasso d'Oro Award from the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI). The award recognized its excellence in design research and education.
Partnerships with global organizations such as Google, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Pininfarina give you the chance to work on real-world projects.
