Highfield Campus is the oldest, largest, and main campus of the University of Southampton. It sits in the northern part of the city of Southampton.
Highfield is the academic heart of the university. The Hartley Library, one of the largest university libraries in southern England, is open 24 hours a day. The Valley Gardens are tucked into a corner of Highfield Campus for students who want quiet and focus. The Jubilee Sports Centre offers a wide range of activities. These include a 25-meter swimming pool, 4 squash courts, a martial arts studio, and an indoor cycling studio. The Centenary Building is the campus's newest building, and some classes are held there.
The wind tunnels here are used often by the university's sports teams, the aviation industry, motorsports, and the maritime industry.
The Boldrewood Innovation Campus is the university's newest campus, near Southampton Common, the city's largest green space. There you will find a 138-meter towing tank, one of the largest in the UK and Europe. The National Infrastructure Laboratory and the Boldrewood Café are also here.
Avenue Campus is a few minutes from Southampton Common, the city's largest green space. It houses the Archaeology Building and Bone Laboratory, the Avenue Library, and tennis, netball, and basketball courts.
Much of the learning for Southampton's medical students takes place at the Southampton General Hospital Campus. It holds the Health Sciences Laboratory, Clinical Skills Rooms, the Cancer Immunology Centre, and LifeLab, a state-of-the-art teaching laboratory.
Waterfront Campus is at the National Oceanography Centre on Southampton's waterfront. It is home to the Research Aquarium, the Coral Reef Laboratory, and the National Oceanography Library. Also here is RV Callista, a 20-meter catamaran used for coastal and shelf research.
Finally, Winchester Campus stands alongside the River Itchen. It houses the Winchester School of Art Gallery, the Winchester School of Art Student Union, and the Specialist Arts Library.
The University of Southampton provides student residences with kitchen facilities at various locations within walking distance of Highfield, Avenue, Winchester, and Waterfront Campuses.
The University of Southampton also runs shuttle bus services to some of its student residences.
