Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin has three campuses in the city of Berlin: the Adlershof Campus, the Mitte Campus, and the Nord Campus. The Adlershof Campus sits at the heart of Berlin's Adlershof Science City, where more than 6,000 students pursue their studies. Built between 1998 and 2003, it has first-class educational and research facilities. The campus is home to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Life Sciences, and the IRIS Adlershof Research Institute. The Mitte Campus is the oldest of the three.
It houses the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, Economics, and Business, along with the departments within those faculties. The Nord Campus, in Berlin's Mitte district, is centered around an 80,000-square-meter green park area. It is home to the Faculty of Life Sciences, which includes the Departments of Biology and Psychology. The Thaer Institute of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences is based there as well. You can travel between campuses by car, public transit, or bicycle.
The Erwin Schrödinger Center on the Adlershof Campus holds more than 505,000 print publications and more than 5,600 electronic publications. It serves as the university's science library and gives students space to study and conduct research. It also works as a computer center, with 300 computers, 30 online databases, and 45 OPAC terminals. The student center SBZ Prüfstand has a café where you can relax and socialize. The Mitte Campus stands in the historic heart of Berlin, between Lustgarten, Bebelplatz, and the Brandenburg Gate.
Very close by, the Unter den Linden boulevard is lined with numerous historic buildings, cultural institutes, cafés, shops, and hotels. A sprawling green park of 80,000 square meters lies at the center of the Nord Campus. The university library is spread across all three campuses and has 12 separate buildings for study and research. The Humboldt University Sports Center on Hannoversche Straße offers you a wide range of sports, from swimming to martial arts.
