Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin has three campuses in the city of Berlin: the Adlershof Campus, the Mitte Campus, and the Nord Campus. The Adlershof Campus, where more than 6,000 students pursue their studies, is located at the heart of Berlin's Adlershof Science City. Built between 1998 and 2003 with first-class educational and research facilities, the Adlershof Campus is home to the university's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Life Sciences, and the IRIS Adlershof Research Institute. The Mitte Campus — the oldest of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin's three campuses — houses the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, Economics, and Business, along with the departments within those faculties. The Nord Campus, located in the Mitte district of Berlin, is centered around an 80,000-square-meter green park area. The Nord Campus is home to the Faculty of Life Sciences — which includes the Departments of Biology and Psychology — as well as the Thaer Institute of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences. Transportation between campuses is possible by car, public transit, or bicycle.
