Submitting at least one of the exams below with the required score is a prerequisite for application. The score threshold may vary by program.
How to get into University of Vienna
The University of Vienna requires international applicants to undergraduate programs to participate in the "University Preparation Programme of the Vienna Universities (VWU)" before beginning their degree studies, in order to prepare them for university life. The admission requirements for this program are as follows.
- A 4-Year High School Diploma or, if applicable, an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
- Placement through the YKS exam into a program at a Turkish university recognized by the University of Vienna that offers a 4-year bachelor's degree in the field you wish to study at the University of Vienna
- The University of Vienna may request to see your YKS exam results in accordance with its admission requirements.
- English Language Proficiency Certificate (an English proficiency certificate obtained through exams such as TOEFL or IELTS)
- German Language Proficiency Certificate (a German proficiency certificate obtained through exams such as TestDaF, telc, or Goethe-Zertifikat)
- Official transcripts showing the courses taken and grades received throughout secondary school
Applicants wishing to apply to graduate programs offered by the University of Vienna must meet the following requirements.
- Graduation from a university recognized by the University of Vienna that offers a 4-year bachelor's degree,
- Completion of at least 180 ECTS credits during undergraduate studies
- English Language Proficiency Certificate (an English proficiency certificate obtained through exams such as TOEFL or IELTS)
- German Language Proficiency Certificate (a German proficiency certificate obtained through exams such as TestDaF, telc, or Goethe-Zertifikat)
- GRE/GMAT scores are required in accordance with the specific admission requirements of the program being applied to.

The University of Vienna has been intertwined with the city of Vienna since its founding, and its academic facilities are spread across 60 different locations throughout the city. The historic main building on the Ringstraße serves as the university's center and is commonly referred to as "die Uni." Many of the university's major facilities and lecture halls — including the New Lecture Complex, the Althanstraße Lecture Complex, the campus within the Vienna General Hospital, and the Faculty of Law — are located in the first and ninth districts of Vienna.
The University of Vienna Botanical Garden, the Department of Biochemistry, and related research centers are situated in the third district. The University of Vienna Library's collection holds more than 7,650,000 volumes, over 10,000 print publications, and more than 80,000 electronic publications, providing extremely comprehensive research resources for students and university staff.
While the University of Vienna's sports institute gives students the opportunity to engage in physical activity, nearly every cinema, cafe, restaurant, theater, concert hall, and museum in the city of Vienna is within walking distance of one another.
