Campus

Take a closer look at University of Innsbruck

Although the University of Innsbruck is a city university and its buildings are located in various parts of the city of Innsbruck, the areas where these buildings are clustered are referred to as campuses by the university's students, academic staff, and administrative personnel. There are 4 such campuses: the Innrain Campus, the Sports Campus, the Technical Campus, and the University Street Campus.

The Innrain Campus houses the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, the Faculty of Geo- and Atmospheric Sciences, the Faculty of Teacher Education, certain departments of the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Science, the Faculty of Philosophy and History, and the Faculty of Law. The Sports Campus is home to the remaining departments of the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Science, the Innsbruck University Sports Institute, and the university's sports facilities.

The Technical Campus houses the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics, and the Faculty of Technical Sciences, while the University Street Campus is home to the Faculty of Business Management, additional departments of the Faculty of Teacher Education, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the Faculty of Economics and Statistics, and the Faculty of Theology.

Campus Life

Rather than being a campus university, the University of Innsbruck is a city university and is fully embedded in all the social and cultural opportunities the city has to offer. The university's sports facilities give students the chance to participate in a wide range of sports activities, particularly winter sports, and while there aren't many student clubs and societies operating within the university itself, the university organizes a wide variety of activities throughout the year.

Meanwhile, historic Innsbruck — with its old buildings, the Hofkirche, Maria-Theresien-Strasse, Ambras Castle, the Goldenes Dachl, the famous Imperial Palace, and the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum — is among the must-see destinations in the city of Innsbruck.
