The college began in 1927 as Edgewood Junior College and was renamed Edgewood College in 1940. From the start, it has based its education on the values of truth, compassion, justice and partnership. Edgewood College offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in the liberal sciences, sciences, business, educational sciences and social sciences. The college is known in particular for its nursing, educational sciences and business programs.
Its campus covers approximately 23 hectares of land overlooking Lake Wingra. The student community is close-knit, and a student-faculty ratio of 9:1 means each student receives individual attention. Today Edgewood College offers undergraduate and graduate programs to more than 1800 students.
