The University of Paris, founded in 1150, was first succeeded in 1971 by the University of Paris-South and ultimately took the name Université Paris-Saclay in 2019.

Université Paris-Saclay has an extensive campus network located primarily in the Paris-Saclay cluster, approximately 20 km south of Paris. The main campus is situated in Gif-sur-Yvette, Orsay, and Palaiseau, and constitutes a hub for research, innovation, and academic excellence.
Home to various faculties, research institutes, and laboratories — particularly in the fields of science, engineering, and technology — the campus is one of Europe's leading research ecosystems.
