Université PSL overview
Université PSL began as an idea in the early 2000s. The aim was a leading research university in Paris, built on a more interdisciplinary, collaborative and internationally focused approach to scholarship. Université PSL was officially established in 2010 as a COMUE ('Communauté d'universités et établissements'). That structure was a type of federation, bringing universities, grandes écoles and research organizations together. It proved successful, and in 2019 PSL formally gained the status of a full university. PSL is not a traditional university.
It is a collegiate one, composed of 11 autonomous constituent institutions. These include École normale supérieure (ENS), École nationale des chartes and École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). ESPCI Paris, Chimie ParisTech, Observatoire de Paris and Institut Curie are part of it as well. So are CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research), INSERM (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research), Collège de France and Université Paris-Dauphine.
PSL emphasizes excellence in research, with a strong orientation towards interdisciplinary study across science, engineering, humanities, social sciences and the arts. It keeps a strong international profile, with many partnerships and exchange programs with top universities worldwide. PSL consistently ranks highly, both nationally and internationally. It has been recognized for exceptional performance in subjects such as Mathematics and Physics.

Undergraduate
If you plan to apply for an undergraduate program at Université PSL, you must meet the admission requirements set out below.

Université PSL does not have a traditional, centralized campus in the way some universities do. It is a collegiate university, a set of distinct institutions across the heart of Paris. That decentralized structure gives you a unique and dynamic student experience. The Latin Quarter is the historic core of PSL, and prestigious institutions sit there. They include the École Normale Supérieure (ENS - PSL), the Collège de France and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). The Chimie ParisTech and the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) are there as well.
Jourdan Campus is home to the École Normale Supérieure (ENS - PSL), along with research facilities, student housing and sports complexes. Porte Dauphine hosts Université Paris Dauphine - PSL, known for its strengths in economics, management and mathematics. Carré Richelieu is home to the École nationale des chartes and the Institut national d'histoire de l'art (INHA), which specialize in art and cultural heritage. The Observatoire de Paris site is home to the Observatoire de Paris - PSL, which focuses on astronomy and astrophysics.
