Admission Requirements For International Students

Undergraduate

• GCE A-level / International A-level
  • 3 GCE A-Level / International A-Level subjects
  • Applicants who gain admission typically attain at least 3B in 3 AL subjects.
• International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • IB Diploma
  • Applicants who gain admission typically attain an IB score of 32 or above out of 45.
• SAT / ACT
  • Successful completion of High School Diploma with an overall average of 75% or above; AND
  • SAT with a Total Score of 1190 or above out of 1600; OR
  • ACT with a Composite score of 24 or above out of 36 (in one sitting), PLUS
  • Grade 3 or above in 2 Advanced Placement (AP) subjects

• English proficiency certificate for programs where the medium of instruction is English

  • English proficiency certificate obtained with the scores of English proficiency exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic

• Chinese proficiency certificate for programs where the language of instruction is Chinese

  • Certificate of proficiency in Chinese obtained through scores on Chinese proficiency exams such as HSK

In addition, for certain programs, Hong Kong Polytechnic University may ask to see your test score and if you have taken exams such as the International STEM Test (THUSSAT, TIST, etc.).

Graduate

 Prospective international students who wish to apply to graduate programs offered by PolyU must meet the admission requirements set out below.

• Bachelor's Degree Diploma
• High Grade Point Average
• Official transcripts of the courses taken by the applicant during college/university education
• Work experience may be required for certain programs
• Certificate in English Proficiency for programs taught in English
  • IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English Tests (C1 advanced or C2 proficiency)
• GRE/GMAT exam score may be required in accordance with the specific admission requirements of certain programs.

Admission Requirements For Domestic Students

Undergraduate

• HKDSE Requirements:

  • Applicants must have obtained the following in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination:
    • Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language.
    • Level 2 or above in Mathematics (Compulsory Part) and Liberal Studies.
    • Level 2 or above in one elective subject from Category A (Senior Secondary Subjects).

• Non-JUPAS (Local Applicants):

  • Local students who do not sit for the HKDSE or hold other local qualifications such as Associate Degree or Higher Diploma can apply through the Non-JUPAS route.
  • Requirements vary based on the qualifications and the program applied for. Generally, applicants must demonstrate satisfactory academic performance equivalent to the HKDSE standards.
• Some programs may have specific subject requirements or additional selection criteria, such as interviews or portfolio submissions (particularly for design-related programs).

Graduate
