Take a closer look at Western University

Western University's main campus, in London, Ontario, is built on 481 hectares. The main campus holds the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Don Wright Faculty of Music, the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Science. They stand out for their historic architecture and their lively academic setting. You will also find University College, one of the oldest buildings at the university, and the University Community Centre (UCC), the hub of student life. The UCC houses a range of services and amenities.

Beyond the academic facilities, the main campus is home to Brescia University College, Huron University College, and King's University College. These are federated colleges: part of the Western University family, but with their own identities and traditions. The main campus holds Western's Recreation and Wellness Centre, with a wide range of sports and wellness facilities. TD Stadium, home to the Western Mustangs football team, is here as well. Beautiful natural landscapes also surround the campus, including the Thames River and many green spaces, which give you a calm place to study and rest.

London, Ontario is a mid-sized city known for its friendly atmosphere, its cultural institutions, and its active arts scene. It serves as the perfect backdrop for campus life at Western.

Campus Life

On this campus, social life and academic life run close together. The Don Wright Faculty of Music often puts on live performances, and students gather at the McKellar Room in the UCC. The UCC also holds a food court, a bookstore, a banking center, and various student services. That makes it a central hub for day-to-day student life. Greek life is active at Western, with many fraternities and sororities hosting social, philanthropic, and networking events through the year. The varsity athletics program, known as the Western Mustangs, competes in Ontario University Athletics (OUA).

It is particularly celebrated for its football team, which has won multiple Vanier Cups. Western's Orientation Week (O-Week) is one of the best-loved traditions on campus. It welcomes thousands of new students each year with a week of events, activities, and chances to meet other students. The annual Homecoming Weekend is another beloved tradition. It brings thousands of alumni back to campus for a weekend of festivities, including the football game, reunions, and community events. Beyond campus, the city of London offers cultural, recreational, and social activities.

These range from the arts scene at Museum London to the outdoors in the many parks and along the Thames River.
