The campus is located 7 km north of downtown Victoria. However, no part of the university's main campus falls within the City of Victoria itself. The university's facilities are located in the municipalities of Saanich and Oak Bay. The University of Victoria campus was originally designed by the American architecture firm Wurster, Bernardi & Emmons.
The university offers on-campus housing to more than 3,200 domestic and international students. University residence halls provide both single and double occupancy rooms. A variety of housing options are also available both on and off campus, including cluster housing, bachelor and one-bedroom apartments, and family housing.
Since the University of Victoria serves as a destination for more than 20,000 students and faculty members each day, numerous transportation options are available for getting around campus. There are eight different routes providing access to the university. Walking is a popular choice for those who live a short distance from campus. With subsidized bus passes for employees and all students, UVic is home to the second busiest transit hub in Greater Victoria. The university campus and surrounding area are well known for their extensive and scenic cycling paths. You can also reach the campus by bicycle.
UVic Food Services offers a variety of cafes and restaurants across campus where you can socialize and grab something to eat or drink. Additionally, the UVic Student Society operates food outlets in the student union building. Degrees Catering is a full-service catering department responsible for the food and beverage menus at campus dining facilities. Students can choose whatever suits their tastes from the available menu.
