Take a closer look at University of Aberdeen

The University of Aberdeen has two campuses: Old Aberdeen Campus and Foresterhill Campus. The Old Aberdeen Campus, where the vast majority of teaching and research activities take place, is home to the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, and Sciences, as well as the university library. The Foresterhill Campus houses the Faculties of Life Sciences and Medicine. The historic heart of the University of Aberdeen, the Old Aberdeen Campus combines carefully preserved historic buildings with modern facilities used for teaching, research, and recreational activities. The university library, an eight-story building situated on Bedford Road, is one of the most modern structures the University of Aberdeen owns and opened in 2012. Jointly owned by the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian, the Foresterhill Campus is home to cutting-edge health sciences facilities including the Suttie Centre, the Institute of Medical Sciences, the School of Dentistry, the Health Sciences Building, the Lilian Sutton Building, and the Rowett Institute.

 

Campus Life

The University of Aberdeen provides 11 separate residential facilities on the Old Aberdeen Campus and in the Hillhead Student Village for undergraduate and graduate students. The Sir Duncan Rice Library on the university's Old Aberdeen Campus is one of the largest and best-equipped libraries in the entire United Kingdom, while the Taylor Law and Medical Library on the Foresterhill Campus holds resources specific to law, medicine, and health sciences. The University of Aberdeen Library holds 1.3 million books and online resources in its collection and has more than 1,500 individual study spaces across three different facilities. The university's Olympic-standard sports facility, the 'Aberdeen Sports Village and Aquatic Centre', is home to three FIFA-approved indoor soccer pitches, an IAAF-certified indoor athletics track, a 50-meter Olympic swimming pool, an internationally standardized diving pool, a multi-purpose sports hall, 4 squash courts, a fitness center, a 400-meter outdoor athletics track and stadium, an ice hockey rink, and a health center. In addition, the University of Aberdeen Students' Union building features cafes, restaurants, pubs, and shops where students can relax and shop.
