Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is one of Malaysia's leading research universities. The university is located in Serdang, near Malaysia's administrative capital. As a world-renowned center of learning and research, UPM has made a significant name for itself in the global community thanks to its students and staff from all corners of the world. 

The university, which formerly focused on agricultural sciences and related fields, was originally called the University of Agriculture Malaysia. Since the 1990s, its areas of study have expanded to include human ecology, foreign languages, architecture, medicine, computer science, and biotechnology. The university currently has multiple departments offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. 

UPM has been one of the five distinguished research universities in Malaysia since 2006. In 2010, it developed its own Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) system to compete among local universities and was granted self-accreditation status by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency to streamline the accreditation procedure for academic programs. Ranked 2nd best university in Malaysia by Quacquarelli Symonds in 2023, UPM stands at 123rd among universities worldwide.

Applicants wishing to apply to undergraduate programs offered by Universiti Putra Malaysia must meet the following admission requirements:

• 4-year high school diploma
• Strong GPA, or
• International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, or
• GCE A-Level / IGCSE A-Level diploma, or
• Completion of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams relevant to the field of the undergraduate program being applied to, or
• SAT/ACT exam scores, or
• Admission to a university in Turkey offering a 4-year undergraduate degree and completion of the first year of the undergraduate program
• English language proficiency certificate

Applicants wishing to apply to graduate programs offered by Universiti Putra Malaysia must meet the following admission requirements:

• 4-year university degree
• Strong GPA
• English language proficiency certificate
• CV
• Letter of recommendation
• Statement of purpose
• GRE/GMAT scores may be required depending on the specific admission requirements of the department applied to.
