McMaster University overview

McMaster University is located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and was founded in 1887 through the bequest of Senator William McMaster, one of Canada's leading senators and philanthropists.

Having relocated to Hamilton in 1930 to accommodate growth and a broader academic mission, the university ranks among Canada's finest universities and consists of six academic faculties — Health Sciences, Engineering, Business, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Science — with a particular reputation for its innovative approach to education and problem-based learning.

Notable alumni and faculty members include Nobel Prize-winning physicist Donna Strickland and former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop.
