Take a closer look at University of Pisa

Rather than a campus university, the University of Pisa is a city university with buildings located in many different parts of the city. That said, the majority of the university's buildings are in the city center, while a few are located near the city's outskirts. Most university buildings are only a 20-minute walk from downtown Pisa. The university offers the opportunity to participate in sports activities at the CUS Centro Universitario Sportivo at very affordable rates. The university has a total of 17 libraries.

The library buildings, like the university's other structures, are spread across almost the entire city of Pisa. Pisa is a city where most transportation is done on foot or by bicycle. For example, CicloPi is a company that offers bike-sharing services and has rental stations throughout the city of Pisa. Additionally, local and regional bus services are available, and students can benefit from these services at discounted rates.

Campus Life

Famous for the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pisa Cathedral, the oldest botanical garden in Europe founded in 1543, and many other historic structures and landmarks, the city of Pisa is located in Tuscany, in the heart of the Italian peninsula, close to the shores of the Mediterranean. The University of Pisa, spread across the entire city of Pisa, is also intertwined with the social and cultural opportunities the city offers.

University students are situated close to cinemas such as Multisala Odeon Pisa, Cinema Arsenale, Multisala Isola Verde, and Lanteri Cinema Caffe, and theaters such as Teatro di Pisa - Teatro Verdi, Teatro Rossi Aperto, Teatro Sant'Andrea, and Teatro Lux — all near the buildings where the university's academic activities take place.

The city of Pisa hosts numerous festivals, carnivals, and events, including the Viareggio Carnival held each February, the Firenze - Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in May, the Pistoia Blues Festival in July, the Lucca Summer Festival in July-June, and Lucca Comics and Games in October. The Centro Sportivo Universitario (CUS) offers students the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports and fitness classes.
