Master's & Postgraduate Study in Ireland

A master's degree in Ireland can deepen your expertise, open career doors, and — in many countries — include post-study work rights. Use this guide to plan a competitive postgraduate application.

  • Entry requirements. Programs in Ireland typically expect a relevant bachelor's degree, a solid GPA, proof of English, and — for business or quantitative fields — GRE or GMAT scores. Some also require work experience.
  • Funding & scholarships. Look into university scholarships, government schemes, and assistantships. Funding is competitive, so apply early and prepare a strong statement of purpose.
  • Deadlines & careers. Note application windows and any post-study work visa options, which can be a key factor when choosing a program and city.

Dream Uni supports your master's application in Ireland — from choosing programs and funding to essays, references, and visas.

Ireland Student Visa: Step by Step

Application Steps

  1. University AdmissionFor Turkish high school graduates, application is made through the Education in Ireland (EI) central application system or directly to the university. The Turkish high school diploma is accepted directly (4-year Turkish high school = the 12-year Irish standard). Trinity College Dublin + UCD require a Foundation Year (1 year of preparation) for some programmes.
  2. Proof of Financial CapacityProof of €10,000 in living funds per year (bank account or sponsor letter) — an Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) requirement. Tuition must also have been paid (at least the first year).
  3. Health InsurancePrivate health insurance is mandatory — €450-700 per year at the student rate (VHI Student, StudentCover, Laya Healthcare). Türkiye's SGK is not valid in Ireland. The EHIC card is valid in emergencies for up to 90 days.
  4. Visa Application (Stamp 2)For studies of 90+ days, the C-Type long stay study visa (Stamp 2). Fee €60 (single entry) / €100 (multi entry). Application through the VFS Global centre in İstanbul/Ankara. Documents: acceptance letter + proof of finances + insurance + English proficiency + fee payment receipt. Processing time 4-8 weeks.
  5. GNIB / IRP Card (Residence Permit)Within 90 days of arrival in Ireland, registration at the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) office + application for the IRP (Irish Residence Permit) card. €300 fee per year. Renewed every year. The Stamp 2 category grants the student part-time work rights of 20 hours per week (during term) + 40 hours (holidays).
